Marco Conticelli recently took office as the new Italian ambassador to Mozambique, replacing Roberto Vellano.
Shortly after taking office, Conticelli said that: “The ties between Italy and Mozambique are already strong, but they can certainly still grow stronger … Opportunities abound in all sectors, from economic co-operation to political dialogue, development assistance. We must continue to work and achieve them”.
Florence-born Marco Conticelli has a solid career in the Italian having spent time in various positions in the Italian Foreign Ministry, the most recent of which was coordinator for immigration, Marco Conticelli also had serious experience abroad, in places as varied as Spain, Sudan, India and the United Nations in Switzerland. Prior to his appointment to Maputo, Conticelli was serving as Italy’s ambassador in Sofia, Bulgaria.
