Mozambique: President Chapo visits Eswatini
The Portuguese head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, called on Friday (May 6) for Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi to take the relationship between Portugal and Mozambique forward, saying that Portugal could not make history alone.
President Rebelo de Sousa made his appeal at the last event of his state visit to Mozambique, a dinner hosted by him in honour of the Mozambican president at the Polana Hotel in Maputo.
Addressing President Nyusi, he said: “Mr. President, there is a traditional African folk saying: ‘If you want to go far, don’t travel alone.’ Yes, Mr. President, alone, in fact, we will not go far.”
“Alone, I will not make history, nor will I contribute tangibly to building a new era in the relationship between Portugal and Mozambique. I need your company, I need your energy, your conviction, your ambition, so that we can actually go forward in this relationship,” he said.
