Mozambique forecasts 20% production growth in key mineral for EV batteries
Many parts of the Zona Verde C neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital are still in the dark for the fifth consecutive day due to the power cuts ongoing since last Thursday.
The constant current fluctuations and cuts that have occurred are causing damage to residents’ electrical appliances such as television sets, freezers, stereos, computers, stoves, kettles and washing machines.
The cuts and power surges sometimes last for more than 24 hours, disrupting life for the Zona Verde C residents some of whom, speaking to Folha de Maputo, expressed their annoyance and demanded compensation from the electricity provider for damage caused by the power outages.
“In addition to loosing chicken, fish and meat due to the extended cuts, our appliances have been damaged. We therefore call on the EDM to pay us damages,” said an anonymous Folha de Maputo interviewee.
