More than 290 Mozambican nationals repatriated from South Africa are currently receiving assistance in Maputo Province from the Joint Command, as authorities work to facilitate their return to their areas of origin across the country.
The individuals were deported for various infractions, including illegal immigration and criminal activity.
According to Carmen Mazenga, spokesperson for the Maputo Provincial Migration Services, many of the repatriated individuals were found without proper documentation.
“Some had no passports or had no recorded entry or exit stamps in their documents. Others were deported for criminal offences — including two for illegal mining, five for robbery, and one for physical assault,” Mazenga explained.
