The National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC) is on high alert in Maputo Province where severe drought is expected this farming season.
Normal to below normal rainfall in the coming days is what has been forecast in Maputo Province by the National Meteorological Institute (INAM).
“It is expected to fall a bit lower than expected. There may be some shortage of rainfall as we have felt in these three months. Looking at what the projection is, it does not differ much from what it was in October, November and December. If it rains, it will not be regular rain, there will be a lot of irregularity,” said Jonas Zucule of INAM.
This time, INGC says it is ready to provide assistance to communities if the situation is alarming.
