Health authorities in Maputo province are strengthening health surveillance at the main border entry points, following the registration of cases of the Covid-19 ‘Indian variant’ in neighbouring South Africa.
The director of health services in Maputo province, Yolanda Santos, said that tighter screening measures had been adopted, especially for citizens arriving from places where cases of the Indian variant had been registered.

“The measures are similar to what is already in place, but we are strengthening these measures and ensuring that health personnel at the borders are doing their jobs meticulously. Only this way can we exercise prevention,” she said.
