Fifteen elephants, suspected to be on the loose from South Africa’s Kruger National Park, are causing panic in Magude district in Maputo province.
The pachyderms are roaming around Mahele administrative post, destroying crops in agricultural fields.
It is not uncommon for elephants to be seen drinking water in the newly opened Matongomane reservoir.
The authorities have deployed a team to keep the animals, which have not so far hurt anybody or destroyed homes, away from local communities.
