The Foundation for Biodiversity Conservation (BIOFUND) will host the Marine Biodiversity Conference on 27 and 28 July at the Museum of the Sea in Maputo city. In parallel, from July 27 to August 2, there will be an exhibition focused on adaptation in ecosystems and marine conservation.
According to a press release, the conference and exhibition seek to establish alliances and encourage dialogue on the conservation of habitats and marine species in Mozambique.
The conference, the first to be held for five years, will include breakout sessions, inspiring conversations, an exhibition and experience of marine life, in an effort to combine science and culture and raise awareness and engagement in the conservation of marine biodiversity.
The event benefits from the collaboration of the Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Peace Parks Foundation, and receives support from several Mozambican entities.
The target audience are representatives of the government, civil society, the private sector, local communities and academia, with a particular focus on children, youth and university students.
