Gondola man kills mother after she refuses to give him food

A 27-year-old man from Gondola district (Manica Province) was recently arrested on charges of murder.
According to the detainee, who admitted to the crime, on the day of the murder he went out to bathe in the nearby brook, and when he returned home he found his mother preparing a meal. The perpetrator demanded that his mother give him some of the food and when she refused an argument broke out.
The detainee subsequently reached for a nearby machete and struck his mother in the neck, killing her. The perpetrator immediately fled to Chimoio were he was apprehended by the police.
Speaking to the PRM, the detainee said that his sister has sent evil spirits to kill him.
