Maputo will on Saturday see the installing of the first cable linking the south and north footings of the KaTembe bridge.
A statement from the KaTembe municipal district administration says that works will start at 7:00 a.m. tomorrow with the cable being laid across the channel by boat, after which it will be lifted up the towers.
The statement includes important information for the fishing community advising that no boats must enter the area between the two towers (that is, between the shipyard and Pier No. 5) between 7:00 a.m. and noon, adding that work could be stopped if the cyclone currently affecting Madagascar makes itself felt.
Circulation in Dragagem Street in Retiro will also be liable to interruption for 15 minutes before 7:00 a.m. for the elevation of the cable between the massif and the tower, the statement advises.
