From today, Maputo will be hosting the 10th edition of the Mozambique Fikani International Tourism Fair, with exhibitions by trade fairgoers and debates on the business environment and investment opportunities in that area.
The event is expected to receive 6,500 participants and more than 220 exhibitors, until Sunday, and, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which is organizing the event, the program includes, at the start, a debate on investment opportunities in the area of nature-based tourism and on the implementation of the decree that exempts certain countries from presenting an entry visa for tourists at Mozambican borders.
Also on the first day of the fair, according to the program, there will be discussions on ethics and quality of service in the context of tourism, the impact of good service on the tourism value chain and a bilateral meeting between Mozambique and South Africa.
“The fair will be an exceptional showcase for the cultural and tourism riches of our country and this event will not only provide opportunities for exhibitors and participants to explore business opportunities, but will also serve as a stage for the celebration of our rich cultural diversity and cultural heritage”, said the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Fredson Bacar, on July 29.
The minister stated that Fikani, to be held at the Mozambique-China Cultural Center, is a space also created to showcase the country’s potential, aiming to attract investment and promote its image abroad.
Eight countries, including Portugal, Spain, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Angola and Namibia, have confirmed their presence at the fair.
In the 2024 edition, in addition to exhibiting tourism products and business opportunities, the Mozambican government wants to promote debates on tourism, create mechanisms to offer services and promotional packages for air, rail and road transport and promote packages for tours and professional internships in the sector.
