Mozambique: Mobile phone operators claim huge losses due to fraud

The Governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Ernesto Gove, is today presiding in Maputo over the opening of the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) Business Forum.
The forum showcases Afreximbank’s financial products to government ministries, the Confederation of Economic Associations, private sector financial managers and other interested parties.
The forum’s main debate today is titled “Promotion of Economic Development and Diversification through Trade”.
Afreximbank will present its products and credit lines today, with bilateral meetings with participants for detailed discussions on financing opportunities scheduled for tomorrow.
Afreximbank is a pan-African financial institution set up in 1993, and counts Mozambique among its 125 country and institution members. It aims to fund, promote and expand trade within and outside the African continent.
The African Export Import Bank was established in Abuja, Nigeria in October, 1993. It is headquartered in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, commenced operations on September 30, 1994, following the signature of a Headquarters Agreement with the host Government in August, 1994. The Bank has branch offices in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Abuja, Nigeria.
