The CPLP Business Confederation (CPLP-EC), directed by Salimo Abdula, is committed to the free movement of people, goods, capitals and services between the CPLP countries – hence the holding of the 1st CPLP Economic Conference in Maputo on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
In a market spanning four continents, nine member countries and ten observer countries, the CPLP-EC believes that freer movement within the CPLP will not only contribute to development in member countries but also trigger new investment and business opportunities.
That is why three years ago it laid out a programme to support this new and ambitious Portuguese-speaking countries project, bringing together working groups composed of the largest law firms in these countries responsible for the research and production of content, as well as for defining and prioritising the steps necessary to achieve the objective.
The results and their conclusions will be presented at the conference.
The event, which hopes to have around 4,900 attendees, is organised in partnership with the Mozambique Confederation of Economic Associations.
The themes to be debated focus on the mobility of persons (visas), on mobility and professional reciprocity, on the creation of a CPLP arbitration and mediation court, on the double taxation and investment protection conventions in the nine countries, on the constitution of capital companies in the countries of the CPLP, and the CPLP manual of ethics and company compliance.
