Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), one of the main public health units in Mozambique, is restarting magnetic resonance imaging examinations (MRIs) after a three-year hiatus, the institution announced today.
A new magnetic resonance imaging machine is currently being installed and 24 HCM staff members have been trained to use the equipment, the hospital said in a statement.
The investment amounted to EUR 2.7 million and will significantly improve the quality of the examinations.
According to data from the institution, the HCM has about 1,400 beds distributed among seven clinical departments, and attends, on average, 780 patients in the emergency room and 550 in the outpatient clinic per day.
