Maputo-Catembe ferry crossing restricted

The Maputo-Catembe ferry crossing has been operating with restricted capacity since Monday afternoon following mechanical problems with one of its vessels.
Transport of persons, vehicles and goods is now being effected by a single ferry and various smaller craft.
According to Notícias, the disabled ferry “Mpfumu” is anchored in Maputo bay and is unusable after part of her steering gear broke.
Transmarítima says that the damaged part has been removed and is now with a repair company specializing in the maintenance of naval equipment.
