A 42-year-old man is in police custody at the 11th Police Station of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Boquisso, Maputo province, on suspicion of selling drugs to students.
According to Maputo province PRM spokeswoman Carmínia Leite, the arrest is part of a campaign to identify and neutralise points of sale and consumption of drugs, commonly known as “bocas de fumo”.
“The individual was arrested in flagrante delicto on a public road and found to be in possession of 13 small packages of cannabis sativa (‘soruma’), which he intended to sell to students of a secondary school on the outskirts of the Boquisso neighbourhood,” Leite said.
Leite said that this was a routine operation resulting from community complaints about individuals engaged in drug dealing and their locations.
