A man has returned to family life after being reportedly dead and buried nine years ago in the Angónia district of Tete, Radio Mozambique reports.
The unusual event happened last Monday, when the people of Namjole neighbourhood outside the village of Ulónguè were surprised by the alleged return of Lembane Galatía Ngoma, who had reportedly died in 2010 and whose funeral was held at the local cemetery.
The return of the 32-year-old has stunned the people of Angonia, who have flocked to witness the unexplained phenomenon.
Lembane’s mother Bibiana Rafael and community leader Inácio Jenha both say they have no doubt that the person is her son and the youth of that neighbourhood, because he displays some characteristic signs which he had before his death, reports say.
Angonia district administrator Paulo Sebastião confirms the occurrence.
”In fact, he is a citizen who had been buried. After his death years ago, he reappeared in a totally debilitated state, but was recognised and he also recognised some family members. We do not know how to explain this. As a government we have set up a team, and psychological support is being provided. What we have to report is that this is a normal person, there are no signs of loss of memory, and this is the reality of what we are witnessing here in the district of Angónia,” Sebastião said.
