A man in Beira had his back badly scalded when his employer attacked him with boiling water.
The victim told the press that the attack was the result of him going to get a drink of water from a neighbouring house without his employer’s consent.
The young man said that the water in his mistress’s residence was from a well and untreated. “And I walked into that house because I have confidence with the owners and I had already asked permission,” he said.
He said he had told his employer that the water in her house was “not fit for consumption”, but his words were not well received. She went into the house, he said, and came out with a kettle of boiling water.
Realising that the woman intended him harm, he tried to escape, but was struck in the back.
Sofala police said they were aware of the case, but that the accused had not been detained since she was not caught in the act. “We’re investigating,” spokesman Daniel Macuácua said.
