Seventeen illegal Malawian immigrants are being detained at the district headquarters of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique in Mutarara, Tete province.
Amelia Direito, provincial Migration spokesperson for Tete, said the individuals were approached on Wednesday at Dona Ana bridge in Mutarara district.
None of them could produce travel documents authorising their presence in Mozambique, and steps are being taken to repatriate them to their country of origin.
