Two Malawian citizens were arrested last week in Maputo’s Mafalala neighbourhood for alleged drug trafficking.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) report that T. Chiwaka and M. Whay were arrested in possession of 20 kilograms of cocaine on June 6.
The source of the drug was not specified.
As the Attorney General pointed out in her last report to parliament, Mozambique continues to be “a preferred drug trafficking conduit for countries on this continent and in Europe and Asia, and also America, mainly by sea”.
