Macaneta bridge to be officially inaugurated tomorrow – Mozambique

The new Incomati River bridge connecting Marracuene in Maputo province with the Macaneta tourist area will be officially opened tomorrow (Wednesday).

The construction of the bridge is part of the government’s Maputo Ring Road construction project and will alleviate the previous crossing situation at that point, characterised by frequent breakdowns of the ferry barge obliging users to resort to other, less safe means.

The official inauguration program is as follows

6h00m – Traditional ceremony (kuphalha) to be conducted by the traditional chief [regulado]

7h00m – Assembly of population and guests

7h30m – Arrival of the members of Maputo Sul E. P. board of administration

8h30m – Arrival of the members of the Provincial Government

8h35m – Arrival of the Presidents of the Municipalities of Maputo and Matola

8h40m – Arrival of His Excellency the Governor of Maputo Province, Raimmundo Diomba

8h45m – Arrival of His Excellency the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Bonete Martinho, and His Excellency the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Silva Dunduro
