Mozambique: Chapo promises to rehabilitate the Dona Ana bridge

President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique Verónica Macamo confirmed that she had received a request from the Renamo parliamentary bench to hold an extraordinary sitting to discuss the issue of armed attacks in some districts of Cabo Delgado.

“Well, yes, I did [receive Renamo’s request], on the 27th. I prefer to take this issue to the Standing Committee, because we are at the end of the legislature,” Macamo said, speaking in Maputo on Friday (November 30).
“It is a sensitive issue which needs to be dealt with responsibly. I prefer to take it to the Standing Committee, which is the board of the Assembly, because that is the body which lays down the schedule, to actually see whether it is important to schedule it now, or it is important that it will be the others who will schedule it, and have the decisions controlled by them. We are in a situation where there is really very little time left to finish the mandate,” she said.
