Airlink cancels flights to Mozambique's Nampula following interim court order to seize 3 aircraft ...
Award-winning low-cost African airline Fastjet has announced that it will begin domestic flights in Mozambique soon. The airline, which currently operates in Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa will be the first low-cost pan-African carrier to enter the Mozambican market.
Fastjet enters Mozambique in partnership with Solenta Aviation Mozambique, a division of its largest shareholder, Solenta Aviation, which is also its operational partner in the country. Fastjet will make an announcement about routes and schedules soon.
Commenting on the launch, Fastjet Chief Executive Nico Bezuidenhout said: “Mozambique is a very important market for Fastjet, and soon we will have the opportunity to offer flights between some of the main cities in the country on a daily basis, with affordable fares.”
Fastjet aim had always been to make air travel more accessible to all, he said. “Fastjet is the airline for everyone.”
Fastjet’s Mozambican routes will use Embraer E145 50-seat jets, offering comfortable inter-city air travel.
“We have flown more than 2.5 million people since our launch in 2012, and there is no better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary than to launch the Fastjet brand in Mozambique,” added Bezuidenhout. “As we grow in Mozambique, we plan to increase our fleet and introduce higher-capacity aircraft if demand moves in a positive direction.”
