Mozambique: Malangatana exhibition opens in Maputo
The world’s biggest floating library docks tomorrow for the first time in the port of Maputo, carrying a selection of more than five thousand works in subjects which include science, sports, cooking, arts, medicine, languages and philosophy.
The Logos Hope, which will dock at the port’s coastal terminal, also carries an international team of 400 volunteers that support the library’s operations. A book fair aboard the ship will be open to the public from Friday February 25th until March 14th.
Maputo is the only African stop on the Logos Hope’s current voyage, but this is not the first time that a floating book exhibition has visited Mozambique. In 2005, the Doulos received about 21,500 visitors.
The Logos Hope is operated by an international non-profit organization registered in Germany. Since 1970, it has had more than 45 million visitors from over 150 countries and territories around the world.
25 February – 14 March / Wed – Sat 10am – 8:30pm /Sun-Tue 2pm – 8:30pm
