Veteran Frelimo member Padre Filipe José Couto has spoken about the current situation in Mozambique. The audio has been circulating on social media since last week.
Read a translated transcript below:
“My message is that Mozambique, at this time, August 2018, has great opportunities to be a prosperous country.
“And what we must do is: all those who are my age – 79 or 80, all the way down to those who are 70, 60 – must step back and give responsibility to young people, and let young people have the freedom to decide.
“And they must know and acknowledge and concede that these young people, when they decide, when they want to run the country, they have also the right to be wrong, to make mistakes, just as we have, until now, done.
“This is how it is.”

I agree 100% with Father Couto, everything has its time, if they are not given chance, we’ll never know how good or bad they are. Why can’t the elders step aside and assume the advisers position for the youth!
