A solidarity march to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Church of Santo António da Polana will be held in Maputo city on Saturday, March 3, at 8:00 a.m..
The march – in which about 300 participants are expected, including prominent figures from the community of Polana and members of the diplomatic corps – will begin at the Church of Santo António da Polana, descending to Julius Nyerere Avenue in the direction of the Destacamento Feminino roundabout, along Avenida Marginal to the Baía Mall roundabout and back along the same route to the Polana Church.
This initiative is part of a broader fundraising campaign aimed at ensuring the preservation of this modernist building, designed by architect Nuno Craveiro Lopes and inaugurated in June 1962.
To participate in the walk, just wear the official T-shirt, available for sale for 750 meticais at various points in the city, with profits reverting entirely in favour of church rehabilitation works.
