The secretary of Beluluane neighbourhood, in Boane district, Maputo province, is being detained on suspicion of being involved in the usurpation and alleged sale of land in the area.
The secretary is the topic of conversation between neighbours, for whom the growing demand for land is conducive to the occurrence of such acts, as some choose not to follow procedure but rather seek to corrupt local leaders.
A man who chose not to reveal his identity says that local authorities are corrupt.
It was not possible to get any reaction from the administrative post of Matola Rio as the head of post was out of office with no known time for his return.
