The Minister of Transport and Communications said in Maputo on Friday that the resumption of Mozambican Airlines (LAM) flights to Lisbon awaits the approval of flight schedules by Portuguese aviation authorities.
LAM was removed from the international aviation blacklist in 2017.
The deadline for the national flag carrier’s return to European airspace is 31 March, 2020, but congestion at Lisbon Airport remains the main obstacle to LAM’s return.
Answering questions on the issue, Minister of Transport and Communications Carlos Mesquita said that everything was under control, although some details remained to be addressed.
The process of digital migration, however, was proceeding smoothly and would be completed in the first quarter of next year.
Minister Mesquita was speaking on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony of 115 students from the School of Nautical Sciences in Maputo on Friday.
