Twenty four foreign nationals have been barred from working in Mozambique because they are considered to be employed illegally in the country.
The suspension was enacted by a General Labour Inspectorate team in Maputo during an inspection of the Maputo French School – Lycée Gustave Eiffel, which found 24 teachers working without proper authorisation.
The brigade also noted that the French School does not have internal regulation, a schedule of service agents or a record of overtime.
Among the 24 suspended teachers are French, Spanish, British, South African and Portuguese nationals who were found to have been contracted in violation of the Mechanisms and Procedure for Contracting Foreign Citizens regulations.
