The General Labour Inspectorate (IGT) has suspended a total of 20 Chinese nationals working for the Wanbao Africa Agriculture Development Company, which operates in the lower Limpopo river region in Gaza.
An inspection revealed that 20 Chinese nationals had no work permits, the company lacked insurance for accidents and occupational diseases, there were no written employment contracts, there were fixed-term contracts without due justification, wages were below established national minimums, workers were not registered with the social security system and there was no work schedule for security guards or holidays for the workers.
The IGT issued a warning notice to correct all infringements detected within 30 day and fined the company for illegal employment of the 20 foreign workers, who were suspended immediately.
The IGT also inspected the Moz India Agro Research and Development Ltd in Gaza, where it discovered two citizens of Indian nationality illegally employed, as well as other breaches of labour law such as the lack of written employment contracts, workers not registered with the social security system and lack of personal protection for workers.
The IGT issued a warning notice, suspended the two expatriate workers and fined the employer.
In Chibuto, also in Gaza, the IGT found irregularities at Turqueza Lda, another agricultural concern, including fixed-term work contracts without proper justification, lack of internal regulation, individual cases not being updated and lack of holiday leave for workers.
These resulted in a warning notice to correct the infringements within 30 days.
