Police in Pemba have captured an insurgent going about daily life in disguise in the Gingone neighbourhood in the heart of the city, a Pinnacle news report published this Friday (September 03) reveals.
Pinnacle News sources explain how events unfolded as follows.
A few days after the attack on Palma town, insurgents from there put to sea and captured some sailing vessels on the beaches of Pangane, Macomia district. They anchored them close to the shore, but a helicopter flying over the sand banks spotted them. The insurgents put to flight, abandoning their captives in the vessels.
Some of the liberated captives took to the woods, surviving days and nights on turbid water and wild fruits until they were rescued by soldiers stationed in Macomia town.
On Thursday, one of the insurgents, who [allegedly] took an active part in the capture of a boat, was recognised and denounced to the police. He was seized by police this Friday and, at the time of writing, is being taken to a nearby police station.

Nossas fontes dizem que, poucos dias depois do ataque de palma, insurgentes puseram-se ao mar e capturaram embarcações a vela, nas praias de Pangane, Distrito de Macomia e as ancoraram para a beira-mar. Por sorte, sobrevoava nas mesmas margens, um helicóptero e pela presença deste objecto voador, os próprios insurgentes puseram-se a fugir e abandonaram todos os capturados. Parte dos capturados, pôs-se a fugir e levaram dias e noites, a percorrerem matas, alimentando-se de água turva e frutos silvestres até serem socorridos por outros militares posicionados em Macomia- Sede.
Ontem, um dos integrantes de insurgentes e que activamente fez parte da captura do barco, foi reconhecido e denunciado a Policia tendo hoje (03-09) sido capturado e neutralizado. A estas alturas em que o Pinnacle News vos escreve, o mesmo encontra-se a ser reencaminhado para uma das esquadras próximas.
