The Mozambican parliament today approved, with Renamo and MDM abstaining, the budget for its own operation, providing 2.8 billion meticais [around US$41.8 million] for the Assembly of the Republic’s expenses this year.
The parliament’s budget was approved against the opposition’s wishes, but with no vote against. Renamo and MDM preferred to abstain, because, according to ‘O País’, even united they would be unable to change the outcome [of the vote] of Frelimo’s majority.
The Assembly of the Republic also this Monday approved, by consensus, its programme of activities for 2020.
