The new list proposed this Sunday to the Frelimo Central Committee by the Political Commission was put to the vote. and vote count is reportedly underway.
Members of the Central Committee who opposed this list were overcome by fatigue.
This means that one of these four will be the Frelimo candidate: Roque Silva (Frelimo Secretary General) , Daniel Chapo (Inhambane Governor) , Esperança Bias (Speaker of Parliament) and Francisco Mucanheia (Advisor to President Nyusi)
Damião José , who was on the first list presented by the Central Commission on Friday, withdrew from the race.
Member of the Central Committee Teodoro Waty told the press that, in the event of a tie, a second voting will quickly follow between the two pre-candidates with the most votes.
According to Evidencias online, the second vote is underway, between Daniel Chapo who won the vote on the first round, and Roque Silva Samuel – as none of them obtained more than 51% of the votes.
