Mozambique: Justice sector raises concern over cases of incest - Notícias
Mozambique today reported the death of another patient with Covid-19 , bringing the death toll in the country to 121, and also 154 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, the Ministry of Health announced.
“A 64-year-old Mozambican died in a hospital in the city of Maputo today (November 20), after his health deteriorated,” reads a statement to update the data on the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
With the 154 newly diagnosed cases reported today, Mozambique accounts for a cumulative of 14,877 cases, of which 14,570 are locally transmitted and 307 imported.
In the document, the ministry announces a further 204 cases reported as recovered, increasing the total of recoveries to 13,053 (87%).
The Ministry f Health accounts for a cumulative of 569 hospitalised patients.
The Mozambican capital, the city of Maputo, has the highest number of active infections, with 1,510, followed by the Cabo Delgado province and Maputo province, both with 34, with the remaining provinces having less than 30 cases.
The country has tested a total of 218,726 suspected cases, since the first case was announced on March 22.

In Africa, there are 48,681 confirmed deaths in more than two million infected people in 55 countries, according to the most recent statistics on the continent’s pandemic.
Angola records 333 deaths and 14,134 cases, followed by Mozambique (121 deaths and 14,877 cases), Cape Verde (104 deaths and 10,082 cases), Equatorial Guinea (85 deaths and 5,121 cases), Guinea-Bissau (43 deaths and 2,421 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (16 deaths and 974 cases).
Brazil is the Portuguese-speaking country most affected by the pandemic and one of the hardest hit in the world, with the second highest number of deaths (more than 5.9 million cases and 168,061 deaths), after the United States of America.
The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
