Mozambique: Health workers threaten to intensify strike
Five Covid-19 deaths were reported in Mozambique on Monday (January 11), all in Maputo city. The Ministry of Health today also announced a further 395 confirmed cornavirus cases.
Three of the deceased were Mozambican women aged 21, 30 and 50 years old , and two were Mozambican men aged 54 e 62 years old. All were hospitalised in Maputo city. Two of these deaths were declared on Sunday, January 10 and three others were declared today (11).
This brings the Covid-19 death toll in Mozambique to 197.
Of the 395 newly diagnosed positive cases reported today, six cases are in patients under five years of age.
Maputo city has the majority of the newly reported cases: 214. It is followed by Niassa province with 42.
In the last 24 hours Mozambique performed 2,059 Covid-19 tests.
Mozambique currently has 127 hospitalised patients, 76 are male and 51 female. Of the hospitalised patients, 56 are in moderate condition, 65 in serious condition and six are in critical condition.
In the last 24 hours there were 29 new hospitalisations in the country, of which 20 were hospitalised in Maputo city, three in Nampula, five in Manica. one in Sofala province. Three patients were discharged from hospital: two in Nampula city and one in Maputo city.
Mozambique today reported 88 new recoveries: 61 in Nampula, ten in Zambézia, and 17 n Gaza province.
Mozambique currently has 4,510 active cases.
