Prominent Mozambican politician Mário Machungo, a Frelimo historic member, died today, O País reports.

Mário Fernandes da Graça Machungo was born on 1 December 1940 in Maxixe, Inhambane province.
1969, Master’s in Economics, Higher Institute of Economic and Financial Sciences, Lisbon Technical University.
1969-70 – Economics Technician, Lisbon National Institute for Industrial Research;
1970 – Economist, Banco de Fomento Nacional, Portugal, then Mozambique;
1974, – Served as Minister for Economic Coordination;
1975-76 – Served as Minister of Industry and Commerce;
1978 – Served as Minister of Energy; 1978-82, Minister of Agriculture and
1980-94- Served as Minister of Planning;
1983-86- Served as Governor of the Zambezia Province;
1986,- Served as Prime Minister of Mozambique;
since 1995 – Chairman of the Board, Banco Internacional de Moçambique.
