The National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernic) in the city of Maputo has confirmed that Amade Issa (Boia), father of lawyer Imran Issa, was kidnapped in the Malhangalene neighbourhood of Maputo city at around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday night (22-12).
Sernic reports that they visited the scene of the abduction where, together with other forces, they carried out a forensic investigation. They are now working on solving the crime and returning the victim to his family.
Sernic says that it is premature to provide any information about the kidnapping, as it is an organised crime.
“The criminal is anywhere, in any corner, we cannot say whether he is in the police, in Sernic or in the press, but we are working. [… .] Wherever he is working or is inserted, Sernic and other institutions will take measures to hold them accountable for their actions,” said a Sernic spokesperson in Maputo city.
According to the ‘Anti-Raptos Beira’ Facebook page, four kidnap victims are currently in captivity.
