The leader of the self-styled Renamo ‘Military Junta’, Mariano Nhongo, has today reported the abduction of four family members of Renamo founder André Matsangaissa.
The wife and three children of André Matsangaissa Júnior, nephew of Renamo’s first president, were abducted early today from his residence in Nhamaonha neighbourhood on the outskirts of Chimoio, the capital of Manica provinc, in central Mozambique.
Matsangaissa Junior joined the ‘Military Junta’ in July, on the eve of the extraordinary meeting of the Renamo dissident group in Gorongosa.
He is on the board of the ‘Junta’, which is led by Mariano Nhongo, a Renamo general who created the military faction in protest at aspects of Ossufo Momade’s leadership.
