The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM ) are combating attempts to place barricades along the National Road Number Four (EN4) in sections of the Luís Cabral and Matola “A” and “F” neighbourhoods, Notícias reports.
The EN4 connects the city of Maputo and the Republic of South Africa.
Rioting took place in parts of the Luís Cabral and Matola “A” and “F” neighbourhoods crossed by the EN4 highway, as seen in amateur videos posted by people in those locations.
The PRM is working at various points to eliminate outbreaks of unrest, dispersing the population and removing barricades and burning tires near the police station in the Luís Cabral neighbourhood and in Matola.
Road traffic has resumed. Some stones used as part of the barricades can still be seen on the side of the road.

A Polícia da República de Moçambique está a reprimir a tentativa de colocação de barricadas ao longo da Estrada Nacional Número Quatro (N4), em alguns troços do bairro Luís Cabral e Matola “A” e “F”.
A EN4 liga a cidade de Maputo e a República da África do Sul.

Em diversos pontos a PRM está a trabalhar na eliminação de focos de agitação, dispersando a população e retirada de barricadas e pneus queimados junto à esquadra do bairro Luís Cabral e na Matola.
O tráfego rodoviário voltou a fluir e nas bermas da rodovia continuam algumas pedras que estava a ser usadas como barricadas.
