Public passenger transport in the Greater Maputo Metropolitan Region will operate all day on Saturday, as part of National Independence Day festivities on June 25th.
Gedeão Alberto, administrator of the Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT), said that the measure was aimed at helping people involved in the various activities that will mark the date get around more easily.
Alberto said that, in addition to those operated by municipal transport companies, buses owned by the state and managed by private companies would be plying various routes in the Greater Maputo Region.
“We know that there will be many commemorative and recreational activities, and it’s our job to provide adequate transport for the citizenry,” he said.
