The trial of the diversion of a fuel tanker truck which exploded and killed 115 people in Caphiridzange, in November 2016, begins today at the Moatize Judicial Court, Tete province.
Six people, including “fuel resellers”, will stand trial, a source close to the case told Lusa.
However, residents in the village of Caphriridzange have complained during an interview with Televisão de Moçambique (TVM) that there are people involved in this case who will not be held accountable for their actions before the court of justice.
Júlio Calengo, Provincial Delegate of the Human Rights League in Tete, told state radio that he believed that justice would be served.
The fuel tanker went up in flames on November 17, 2016, in Caphiridzange, after the villagers had tried to siphon off fuel from the tanker. The truck had diverted its course from the main road.
