Twenty-four hours after their arrest, the defendants in the Embraer case were heard in court on Thursday afternoon in Maputo. Mateus Zimba, former head of Sasol, was the first to be heard by the court. He was followed by former chairman of LAM, José Viegas and former Minister of Transport and Communications, Paulo Zucula, was the last one to be heard.
After four hours of sitting, Judge Ludovina David has ordered provisional release as the measure of coercion for the three defendants.
The judge set bail at 3.5 million meticais for José Viegas, 5 million meticais for Paulo Zucula and 6 million meticais for Mateus Zimba.
