Mozambique: Jorge Dias' solo exhibition opens at Camões Maputo - 'Fico a Ver o Lá Daqui'
English soul artist and R & B composer Joss Stone will perform tomorrow at 8:00 pm at the Scala Cine-Theatre in Maputo, with support from Mozambican singer Mingas.
This will be the British artist’s first performance in the country – part of his “The Total World Tour” which aim is to touch down in all the countries in the world.
According to tour tradition, the artist collaborates with artists from the countries where she goes. In Mozambique’s case, Stone will collaborate with young Mozambican musician Deltino Guerreiro.
A statement sent to Noticias says Stone draws the attention of the world by the contrast of stimuli that she provokes in the senses of the public: feminine beauty and voice.
“But above all, the powerful and husky voice, those that stand out at all costs and everywhere. This universe of possibilities supports the career of Joss Stone, who sometimes dispenses with physical beauty and leaves the incredible artist, charismatic, talented and queen of soul flourishing,” the document reads.
Khuzula, organiser of the event, said that the singer expected her concert to initiate new possibilities of experiencing new stages and cultural exchanges.
Complete owner of the stage when she is on the scene, the artist makes her performance into something palpable, almost physical. The smile does not leave her face, her body floats as if dancing in front of the mirror at home. Joss Stone promises to keep the conversation with the public and spontaneity alive during the show.
Winner of several annual UK Music Awards (BRIT Awards) and a Grammy Award in 2007, Stone has sold more than 14 million records worldwide, especially of her first four: ‘Mind2’, ‘Body & Soul’, ‘The Soul Sessions’ and ‘Introducing Joss Stone’.
In the United States, it sold 2,722,000 copies and earned one platinum and two gold records, while in the UK the top two surpassed two million copies and made Stone the youngest singer to lead the album chart. In Brazil, the three albums sold 152,000 copies.
In 2015 Joss Stone won the Best Reggae category at the Bilboard Awards with the album ‘Water For Your Soul’, produced by Damian Marley.
From Maputo, Joss stone heads to Khartoum, Sudan.
