Angolan president Jose Eduardo dos Santos has met Mozambique attorney general Beatriz Buchili.
Buchili told Mozambican media she had conveyed greetings from President Nyusi, and the two had discussed a bilateral agreement on the extradition of prisoners.
“Although we have multilateral agreements within the framework of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, we believe that a bilateral agreement will speed up procedures and improve legal cooperation,” Buchili said.
Buchili welcomed President dos Santos’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between Angola and Mozambique at all levels, particularly in the area of justice, and thanked the Angolan head of state for supporting the African Association of Public Prosecutors, a key forum for enhancing cooperation among countries on the continent.
The attorney general has been in Luanda since last Sunday for a seven-day fact-finding visit to Angola covering various legal issues, including criminal investigation.
