Mozambique: 'Franco-Moçambicano' celebrates thirty years
Noticias
A trio of Japanese brothers who make up the drumming band “Ha-Ya-To” will perform on Thursday 27 October at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre in Maputo in the trio’s first performance in Mozambique.
The band was formed in 2001 by brothers Keita, Ryota and Yuta Kanazashi, and presents a new Japanese drumming style combining “uchi (beat), hayashi (rhythm) and dance”.
In order to boost the Japanese stylistic element, the three have learned Japanese Kabuki dance and other Japanese musical accompaniments and incorporated them into their performance, thereby establishing a new genre called “kobugeki”, a drum show with theatrical elements.
Now the band are trying to spread their new “Japanese-style world” across the globe, starting with the dance lovers of Mozambique.
