The new mayor of the municipality of Ilha de Moçambique, Ismail Chacufa, took office on Friday, February 14. Ismail Chacufa replaces Gulamo Mamudo who died of an illness on the 7th of this month.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State Administration and Public Service, Ana Comoana, who called for joint, complementarity effort among authorities to transform difficulties into opportunities.
Ismail Chacufa came second to the deceased Renamo head of list in the 10 October 2018 local elections.
Representing the president, Minister Comoana emphasised that local authorities must remember that development could only be achieved by joint effort.
Among other leaders present was Secretary of State for Nampula province, Mety Gondola.
