The Islamic Council of Mozambique has written to Renamo president Afonso Dhlakama asking him to revive the spirit of the peace agreement to which he is a signatory.
The Council says it is concerned about the loss of life the current military and political tension is causing and reiterates that the country’s progress can only be achieved through domestic and foreign investment and with hard work by all in a climate of peace and stability.
The Council also notes that the country has a parliament where peoples’ representatives can discuss their problems, and calls for an agreement between the parties to be reached soon.
