Mozambique may have lost over 383 million dollars as result of demonstrations

The Islamic Republic of Iran wants to re-establish its embassy in Mozambique after more than twenty years and relaunch ties of socio-economic cooperation.
Five new ambassadors presented letters of credence to the President Filipe Nyusi last Friday. They were Toshio Ikeda, Ambassador of Japan, Rajab Lukwavi, High Commissioner of the Republic of Tanzania, Narjes Dridi of Tunisia, Mohsen Ghomi of Iran and Weerawardena Dharmasena, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka.
Mozambique and Japan have maintained cooperative relations various socio-economic domains for several years in and are seeking to boost the search for mutually beneficial actions, while historical ties between Mozambique to Tanzania are described as being of the highest level.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Oldemiro Balói believes there are challenges to establishing cooperation with Iran, Sri Lanka and Tunisia in the economic and social policy area.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in Mozambique was closed in the 1990s, but the country hopes to relaunch bi-lateral cooperation with Mozambique in the areas of mineral resources and energy.
Sri Lanka and Tunisia are also seeking to establish cooperation in potentially fruitful areas.
According to Minister Balói, Mozambique actively seeks cooperation with a greater number of countries and the strengthening of historical and friendly ties with the nations of the world.
