Professor Iraê Lundin died in Maputo yesterday, following an illness.
She was a lecturer at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies of the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI).
She held a degree in Anthropology and Political Geography from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and had specialised in Development and State Formation process.
Iraê Baptista Lundin was engaged in the peace process in Mozambique, having carried out numerous works on the role of culture in order to better understand the internal local social base that underpinned the conflict in the country.
Professor Lundi took up the Chair in Research Methodology at ISRI in 1992. She also directed the Socio-Political and Cultural Studies Department at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, CEEI-ISRI. She was also often a mentor and an opponent for dissertation graduate or master thesis, both at ISRI and at other public and private institutions, in ad outside the country.
