The Dutch-Mozambican Chamber of Commerce (DMCC) is a young non-profit organization driven by the mission to strengthen the socio-economic relations and promote business opportunities and exchanges between Mozambique and The Netherlands.
Since 2001, Mozambique has always exhibited growth levels above the Sub-Saharan African average. The Netherlands has a longstanding trade and development relationship with Mozambique. By exploring the synergies between Mozambique’s potential and the Netherlands’ capabilities, we intend to take this relationship to a higher, stronger, and more sustainable level.
As a result, the DMCC is now looking for members who have social or business ties with Mozambique and/or the Netherlands, and are looking for a successful platform to develop and diversify the economic ties between both nations. Our new members can be students, individual professionals & entrepreneurs, and companies of different sizes.
For 2021, we have chosen the economic sectors Agribusiness and Fintech as focal sectors. From farm to fork, the Netherlands is the second-largest exporter of agricultural and food products in the world (after the US), with more than 5,300 companies in this sector. Mozambique has excellent agro-climatic conditions with only 15% of 36 million hectares of arable land currently being utilized. We intend to bring the Dutch Agri-food powerhouse closer to the incredible potential that Mozambique has to offer in this key sector.
Furthermore, Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the fastest-growing investment zones for financial technology firms in the world. This momentum has not yet reached Mozambique. We aim to energize this sector’s potential linking it to the booming Dutch FinTech start-up ecosystem.
The DMCC is active in both countries. We engage in virtual as well as in-person fora where people and businesses can come together, get to know, and learn from one another. More importantly, we create means to exchange ideas, build and/or strengthen one’s network, and create partnerships to strengthen the socio-economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
